“Over the past 10 years, we have worked in partnership with Clinica to maintain and upgrade their existing voice and network infrastructure.”
Clinica Sierra Vista is a multi-dimensional, multi-disciplinary comprehensive health care organization, serving the primary medical, dental and behavioral health needs of a huge patient population in Kern, Fresno and Inyo counties. It has grown to be one of the largest comprehensive migrant/community health center systems in the state, with over 1,300 health care professionals over 50+ sites.
Over the past 10 years, we have worked in partnership with Clinica to maintain and upgrade their existing voice and network infrastructure. Most recently in 2015, Clinica contracted Telcion to update their entire Cisco Voice solution of 1,300+ phones to the current shipping version. This included upgrading the Call Manager, Unity, and Contact Center applications. New applications such as Cisco Emergency Responder and call reporting software were added, and a roll-out of the Cisco Jabber client desktop/mobile were also added to the solution.
All of the Cisco servers needed to be virtualized onto a new Cisco Unified Computing System blade chassis based on a 10Gb fabric. We leveraged an existing SAN with 10gig iSCSI connections. The entire voice infrastructure was virtualized using VMWare vSphere 5.5 onto each the blade servers. vCenter was then installed for Virtual Machine Management and high availability features. An additional server for the Fresno data center was also added to provide geo-redundancy for voice applications.
Clinica signed a 5-year agreement with Telcion in 2015 to manage the entire voice system infrastructure. This includes supporting IT Helpdesk for daily moves/adds/changes, resolving issues that impair the system, proactively managing the system to ensure the highest availability, and upgrading the software to new version to stay ahead of the end-of-life curve.
